Meherana's Wildflowers
The habitat at Meherana is primarily Blue Oak-Foothill Pine (California Wildlife Habitat Relationships, 1988). Blue oak and foothill pine are the most common trees in this habitat with interior live oak and California buckeye also associated. Shrubs typically found in this habitat include several species of Ceanothus and manzanita, poison oak, lupine, yerba-santa, gooseberry, and California redbud.
Common wildflowers found in this habitat and at Meherana include fiddleneck, owl’s-clover, lupines, buttercups (in the wetter areas), filarees, popcorn flower, farewell-to-spring, larkspur, and Mariposa lilies. |
