New  Life 2026 Sahavas at Meherana!

Friday, October 9th - Sunday noon, October 11th

Please join us in welcoming Rustom Irani as our special guest. Rustom and Sohrab, twin nephews of Meher Baba, grew up in close proximity to their beloved uncle, the Avatar of the Age.

Rustom will share stories of his life with Baba - both the mischievous antics he and Sohrab devised as well as the deeply loving atmosphere that graced his life.
We are also thrilled to have Beverly Smith as our musical guest. She has been thrilling audiences for decades with her guitar and fiddle, playing original devotional songs to Meher Baba along with traditional Appalachian music.

Spring Sahavas    –   May 22nd – 25th, 2026

Ursula Reinhart, one of the small handful of young Westerners who met Baba in the 1960s, shared the entertaining and inspiring story of how she came to meet Him. She’s the author of the recent book, “In Search of Grace” about her remarkable journey to the Avatar of the Age.

Cathy Haas Riley has been teaching and performing music for fifty years and has numerous collaborative and solo recordings. Devoted to Baba since 1972, she began composing and performing her own music in the 1980's.

New Life Sahavas    –    October 10th – 12th, 2025

Goher Mobed, daughter of one of Baba's close disciples, Minoo Kharas, was one of our guests this fall sharing her wonderful stories of growing up in Meher Baba's orbit. 
​And how fortunate we were to have had Adrienne Shamszad-Manoukian as our musical guest, once again thrilling our hearts with her sublime music.

Study Program with Ward Parks, September 13  –  September 21, 2025

 The Art of Praise as a Path to God:  Francis Brabazon’s Foundation-laying for a  New World Civilization   in   Stay with God    and Other Poetic Works
Civilizations are based on the loves that they cherish; and in the minds and hearts of the people of a civilization, these loves are upheld through the art of praise. In truth, all praise belongs to God. When people praise God through the forms of art that their lives cultivate, God guides them on the road to felicity and blesses them with their own highest good.

​Among Meher Baba’s disciples, no one played a greater role of articulating this understanding of the role of art in civilization than His great Australian disciple and poet Francis Brabazon. Stay with God (1959), which Meher Baba characterized as second only to God Speaks, stands as his most developed statement on this subject. But many other works of his bring the “art of praise” into practice. His songs and ghazals, many of them composed during the years of Francis’s residence at Meherazad as one of Meher Baba’s mandali, developed the art of praise-and-complaint between lover and Beloved as it has not been known before in the Western world, though the East has long traditions in this regard. But in other major works, such as The East-West Gathering (1963) and The Word at World’s End (1971), Francis brought the poetic art to interpretive cultural commentary and historical narrative in ways that will exert immense influence in the years to come.

​In this study program we will delve into Francis Brabazon’s poetic legacy, not so much as a personal accomplishment on Francis’s part but as an act of foundation-laying for the new world civilization that will arise in the aftermath of the new Avataric Advent. During Meher Baba’s physical lifetime, but particularly since He dropped His body in 1969, art in various forms—poetry, plays, songs and musical composition, painting, films and video, architecture—have played a pivotal role in helping to formulate our collective vision of Who He is and in providing channels for the expression of our love for Him. “The Art of Praise” in our 2025 study program will view the body of Francis’s poetic work as a beacon and signpost for how art could be used as a Divine Path in the years to come.

Our guests were Charles Haynes, who met Baba as a young boy and Jane Brown Mossman who   has been singing songs for Baba since 1972.   Bob Mossman also presented his book on   Anita Vieillard. 

The 2024 New Life Sahavas
In keeping with our fall theme of   “Entertaining Baba", our program will included skits, workshops, music, and more - plus our musical guest   Mia Campagna,   songstress extraordinaire.

Spring Sahavas 2024 
​Guests were Margi Connor and Michelle McKeever, co-creators of the God in the Real World podcast as our guests. Their podcast is dedicated to spirituality, real talk, and Meher Baba. And our musical guest, Adrienne Shamszad,  once again dazzled us with her amazing voice and musicianship.

The 2023 New Life Sahavas
We enjoyed Bob Een's amazing music along with scenes from Karin Levitas' play, The Escape Artist, which was performed in 2014 for Baba's birthday in Meherabad. In additon, the Meherana Players had a few comedy sketches making Baba and us laugh and be entertained.

Covid Guidelines

Thank you for your patience as the Meherana Board of Directors established guidelines to safely move forward and ease the COVID-19 protocols for overnight guests.  The Board is eager to fully open but as COVID-19 remains a concern, individual retreat will be allowed on a limited basis and Baba's Cabin will be open to one family/group bubble at a time.
What are the restrictions?
Face masks are now optional in most areas of California for those who are fully vaccinated.  Please review the CDPH guidelines:

What's the COVID-19 situation?

What can visitors to Meherana expect?
Although we are easing restrictions, please be aware that COVID-19 is still spreading in this country and around the world, especially the new variants.  Travel increases the spread of the virus and your chances of contracting it. 
        Please understand that Meherana cannot be responsible if you contract Covid-19 while visiting and please do not travel if you are sick!
If you do plan to travel to Meherana...
Continue to wash your hands. with soap, especially before handling or preparing food. Also, if other guests feel it is safer to wear a mask and socially distance, please do respect their decision. Thank you!
