About our guest,
When he was three years old David Miotke's parents discovered that he was a musical prodigy, able to remember songs easily and sing them out to the amazement of others. By the time he was six or seven David gave a full recital, singing and playing accordion, at what is now De Paul University's Concert Hall, in Chicago's Loop.
Continuing on his musical path, winning honors and growing in experience, from classical, to jazz, to rock and roll, he found himself on the verge of completing a Masters of Music Degree in applied piano at Northwestern University in the spring of 1971.
To his great good fortune, the Beloved, Meher Baba, came into his life at that time. "This is the reason you were born," the inner voice said, seemingly out of the blue. It was Beloved Baba announcing His eternal presence in David's life. A little over a year later he was blessed by Baba to write music to Francis Brabazon's heartfelt lyrics contained in his beautiful book "The East-West Gathering."
David and the Chicago group recorded David's original songs in late 1972. The record album, now a CD, is much loved by the Baba Community.
David has recorded Baba tapes and CDs over the years, such as the CD "In Dust I Sing," while carrying on a career as a professional musician.
He is most honored to be invited as the musical guest for this spring's Sahavas at Meherana.
